Members Give Back with Every Swipe

What if your everyday transactions had an impact in your community – every fill-up, every late-night snack, and every concert you attend?  It's easy with the card that gives back to nonprofit organizations across Arizona!

Make an impact with every swipe

Arizona Financial makes it easy to give back! The credit union created a simple way for its members to make a difference in the community – just by making everyday transactions with the Local Causes Visa® debit card.

How the program works

Every Arizona Financial Checking Account comes with a Local Causes debit card. When members make a purchase with the card, the credit union contributes to the Arizona Financial Community Fund. Then twice a year, the credit union awards the funds to smaller nonprofit organizations throughout Arizona to support their programs.

“Grants like these help us focus on what matters most in rescue,” said Cassidy Porter-Whistman, executive director of The Barn House AZ, and a recent Local Causes grant recipient. “Giving animals the chance they all deserve and taking care of the people that love them. We utilized these funds particularly to cover some needed veterinary costs for at-risk animals and services for our catalyst program.”

Design of the card

As an Arizona-based credit union, the credit union commissioned Jon Arvizu, a Scottsdale-based designer behind the popular High Jinks Apparel brand, to design the beautiful desert-themed debit card.

Turning transactions into action

Since launching the Local Causes debit card in August of 2020, the credit union has distributed more than $200,000 to 60 Arizona nonprofits.

As part of Arizona Financial’s community-focused debit card giveback program – which also includes the 100 Club of Arizona debit card and the Arizona Humane Society debit card – the credit union has distributed more than $500,000 in grants to Arizona nonprofits serving the community in the areas of education, equality/social inclusion, community services, children and youth, and sustainability.

Do you know a nonprofit in need of funding?

Local nonprofits can apply for a grant at ArizonaFinancial.org/Grant. Applications are accepted in the spring and fall and will be announced on the credit union’s website. Grants are awarded twice a year.
